From Intermittent Jacks to Full Boutique Rewires
Guitar electronics live in a hostile environment of stage vibrations, cable yanking, and moisture. Loose output jacks, scratchy potentiometers, and cold solder joints rob your instrument of output, high-end sparkle, and stage reliability.
At Colorado Guitar Tech, all wiring is performed with temperature-controlled Hakko soldering stations, 60/40 or silver solder, and top-tier components like CTS potentiometers, Oak Grigsby and CRL switches, Switchcraft jacks, and Sprague Orange Drop capacitors.
Core Electronic Services
- Pickup Replacements & Upgrades: Humbuckers, single coils, P90s, active EMG/Fishman systems, or acoustic under-saddle transducers.
- Full Conductive Copper Cavity Shielding: Continuous conductive copper foil lining grounded in star configuration to kill 60-cycle EMI buzz.
- Custom Switching Configurations: 4-way Telecaster mods (series/parallel), push-pull coil splits, phase inversion, and 7-sound Stratocaster switching.
- Treble Bleed Circuit Installation: Preserve crisp treble and high-end definition as you roll down your guitar volume knob.
- Jack & Potentiometer Replacement: Replacing noisy, corroded, or broken pots and loose 1/4" input jacks.
Why Copper Foil Shielding Makes Single-Coil Guitars Usable on High-Gain Stages
Standard factory shielding paint often provides high resistance and incomplete continuity. We apply seamless, overlapping heavy-gauge copper foil throughout pickup and control cavities, soldering all seams to form a continuous Faraday cage. The result: dramatically lower background noise under stage lights and computer monitors.
